Inside bets can be a risky wager though the payouts are much bigger than the outside bets. New players are best to stick with the outside bets for smaller payouts but more wins.
Straight-up – This is a bet on one or more individual numbers on the layout. So, for instance, betting that either the 4 or 12 will win. If a player wins a straight-up bet it pays out at 35:1.
Split Bet – This wager pays out 17:1 a player can place their chips between two adjacent numbers and wins if either comes up.
Three Number Bet – Also known as a ‘street bet’ or ‘trio’ this bet is made by adding wagering on any row of three numbers for instance 1,2,3 or 7,8,9 if any of those numbers win the player is paid out at 11:1
Corner – This is a four-number bet or square bet, the chips are placed in the center of a square of numbers for example 1,2,4 and 5, odds for this bet are 8:1.
Six Number Bet – This wager is also called the ‘line bet’ it’s similar to the three number bet but placed on the outside of six numbers such as 7,8,9,10,11 and 12. Players get odds of 5:1 for this bet.
So really it’s just 10 different bets to understand and most recreational players will stick with just the 5 outside bets. Of course, there are plenty of combinations you can play, you could bet on reds, evens and dozens for instance and potentially win all three at one round of roulette. That’s the fun of roulette; there are lots of different wagers to try out.
